Tested in Team

Week 1 · October

One of the ways you will be tested in the weeks to come and throughout this season is on your team. Testing on your team will be a theme this week, but it will come up all season.

Exercise 1 — Define a great teammate

As a team, find a piece of paper or a whiteboard and outline what you believe a great teammate is or looks like — and what it doesn't. Take a picture of your paper or the board and remember what you wrote. This is the expectation for the year for the kind of teammates you are committed to being. It will help you hold each other accountable to being your best.

Watch as a team

  1. 1Does anyone know who this former player is? What do you know about him?
  2. 2Discuss what he says. Do you agree or disagree, and why?

If time: Your team statement

As a team, discuss how you plan to respond when you are tested and fail. Come up with a statement you can remember that defines success this season as a team. Share your team statement with your parents when you get home!
